When the Harmonies Take You to Heaven 🌿
There are some SING DC gatherings that feel like a song.
Last weekend at Livingroom DC in Mount Pleasant was one of them.
It was tender. It was powerful. And honestly, it felt like one of those moments where you realize, oh… this is exactly where I’m supposed to be.
As we do at SING DC, we began by arriving in our bodies first. We moved through meditation, breathwork, and gentle body warmups—creating a little space between whatever the day had brought us and the music we were about to make together.
And then came the reveal.
I had kept our song a secret until that moment: “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac.
When everyone saw the song, the room filled with those little sounds of surprise—swoons, awes, smiles. 🥹
And then we sang.
What happened next honestly took me by surprise.
We harmonized right from the jump.
Three parts. Almost immediately.
There was listening. There was trust. There was that beautiful moment when individual voices stop trying to be heard over one another and begin to listen for one another.
And somehow, those three parts carried us somewhere else entirely.
To the heavens, really.
“Landslide” is such a beautiful song for a gathering like this because it holds so much of what it means to be human—change, uncertainty, growing older, letting go, and asking ourselves what happens when the ground beneath us shifts.
It asks us to sit with change rather than resist it.
And maybe that’s why I felt such a strong pull to choose it for this particular weekend.
I’ve learned to listen when that inner voice gets quiet and persistent. Sometimes I don't know why a song is calling me until we’re all standing in the room singing it together.
This was one of those times.
I am so deeply grateful that I listened.
Grateful for the music.Grateful for the space.Grateful for the people who continue to show up with open hearts and willing voices.
And most of all, grateful for this calling.
SING DC started as an idea, but every time we gather, it becomes something more real. A place where we can breathe together, sing together, learn from one another, and remember that our voices don't have to be perfect to create something beautiful.
