✨ The Revolution Was Not Televised ✨

Two Sundays ago at Sing DC, we gathered on the patio at Femme Fatale DC to sing Janet Jackson's "All For You."

What started as another beautiful afternoon of music quickly became one of those gatherings that reminds me why this community exists.

We welcomed familiar faces, first-time singers, and even a few younger voices into the circle. My son, Enzo, and his best friend, iZulu, joined us for the fun. There may have been a little encouragement involved 😅, but before long they were singing with us, laughing with us, and eventually dancing in the cypher afterward.

Watching multiple generations share the same music, the same space, and the same joy felt powerful.

The song itself is all about possibility, abundance, and stepping into your light. Singing those words together—in community, under the summer sun—felt like its own kind of manifestation practice.

Now here's the funny part.

I was convinced I had pressed record.

I had every intention of capturing the harmonies, the laughter, the dancing, and the beautiful chaos of the afternoon. But when I checked my phone later... nothing.

No video.

No recording.

Just a handful of photos and a lot of memories.

At first I was disappointed. Then I remembered the famous words of Gil Scott-Heron:

"The revolution will not be televised."

And honestly, that's exactly what this felt like.

Not a revolution in the grand political sense, but a quiet revolution of community. A group of people choosing connection over isolation. A gathering where adults and kids sang together. A space where strangers became friends. A moment where we practiced joy, creativity, and belonging.

Some things aren't meant to live on a screen.

Some things are meant to live in our hearts.

Thank you to everyone who came and helped create that magic.

And now, we're ready for the next chapter.

☀️ Welcome Summer with Sing DC

Our next meetup will be held at The Living Room, the beautiful new sister space to Femme Fatale DC.

📍 Living Room located at 3169 Mount Pleasant St NW

This time we'll be singing the ultimate feel-good classic:

🎶 "Before I Let Go" by Maze featuring Frankie Beverly 🎶

If you've ever swayed to it at a cookout, sung it at a family reunion, danced to it at a wedding, or smiled when those first chords hit, you'll understand why we chose it.

It's the perfect song to celebrate community and welcome summer together.

Bring your voice.Bring your good vibes.Bring a friend—or come solo.

Most importantly, just come.

We can't wait to sing with you.

💛
